"Welcome to Utopia!

-This beautiful island is ÒÉtwo hundred miles across in the middle part, where it is widest, and nowhere much narrower than this except towards the two ends, where it gradually tapers. These ends, curved round as if completing a circle five hundred miles in circumference, make the island crescent-shaped, like a new moonÓ

-The island was originally a peninsula but a 15-mile wide channel was dug by the community's founder King Utopos to separate it from the mainland.

-Access to the bay is impeded by submerged rocks, the locations of which are known only to Utopians.

-The island contains 54 cities. Each city is divided into four equal parts. The capital city, Amaurot, is located directly in the middle of the crescent island.

-Utopia occupies an island that is as isolated as it wants to be; the Utopians interact with the rest of the world on their terms.

Like Thomas More's ideal country, we decided to create our ideal campus, which we named Polyopia. Coincidentally, the definition of polyopia is the perception of several visual images of one object.

And this, is our perception of an ideal college

This island is a 500 acre, completely round island

it is the home to 16,000 undergraduate students

It is sectioned off into four parts, which will be explained later on

There are no cars allowed on the island, because other methods of transportation such as bikes or walking are highly encouraged. Our main method will also be explained later

to get in to Polyopia, there used to be no limits to who could attend, but since the budget cuts and overpopulation, president armstrong has created a random lottery from which students are chosen, so everyone has a fair chance

Now you will hear about the different sections of the island and some unique customs of Polyopia"

Utopian Etiquette:

- Everyone assembles in their hall to eat lunch or dinner

- It is not forbidden to eat at home, but it is not thought of as proper.

-Men sit with their backs to the wall, the women on the outside; so if the woman has some type of pain, common in pregnancy, she may get up and go to the nurses.

- All other children either wait on a table, or stand in absolute silence

-They begin every lunch and supper with a reading on a moral topic.

-Lunches are light, suppers are more elaborate.

-Meals always have music, incense and perfume. Every occasion is festive.

-Country people are too far out, they eat in their own homes.
